The title in the above picture is in actuality that of a new book by Stephen C. Meyer.
In the past 2-3 weeks I have heard Mr. Meyer interviewed on a couple of live radio programs such as the Michael Medved show and Coast to Coast AM complete with call-in questions of listeners and each time I am more impressed with the author and in all honesty, the callers as well.
Most of these callers are of Darwinian beliefs and are well educated as evidenced by their challenges to Mr. Meyer and that is where the fun comes in, and education, for me as well. Let me qualify that; I am a strong believer in "intelligent design" to begin with and that intelligence in and of design I myself attribute to God. But the callers, almost to last one, inevitably end up at a loss as to dispute any answer the author gives given the depth of knowledge of scientific evidence and also the lack of it (which is key) Mr. Meyer has at his disposal.
A snippet from the authors web page about his recent book 'Darwin's Doubt':
Charles Darwin knew that there was a significant event in the history of life that his theory did not explain. In what is known today as the "Cambrian explosion," 530 million years ago many animals suddenly appeared in the fossil record without apparent ancestors in earlier layers of rock. In Darwin's Doubt Stephen C. Meyer tells the story of the mystery surrounding this explosion of animal life—a mystery that has intensified, not only because the expected ancestors of these animals have not been found, but also because scientists have learned more about what it takes to construct an animal.
Expanding on the compelling case he presented in his last book, Signature in the Cell, Meyer argues that the theory of intelligent design—which holds that certain features of the universe and of living things are best explained by an intelligent cause, not an undirected process such as natural selection—is ultimately the best explanation for the origin of the Cambrian animals.
A word or two from the author himself:
Yes, very scientific but that is where, as stated above, the education comes in. The interviews I have heard are amazing and very educational at least for me. But even more, this little I have heard strengthens my own arguments with those of Darwinian thought, hence this post. If you wish to engage people of such thought armed with knowledge - buy this book!
